"Harvest Time" (Aug.-Nov.)

The Johnson Farm abounds in a festival of fall colors and activities. It is time to gather in the bounty of the farm; Indian corn, apples, pears and pumpkins are ripe and ready to pick. Visitors to the farm will enjoy shucking and shelling corn, an old-fashioned harvest demonstration and gathering pumpkins. This tour is a favorite for both children and adults.

The Harvest Time tour is geared to K-2nd graders and is offered August through November. This is a one-hour tour that includes a hayride, a time to feed the farm animals, a lesson on harvesting and a choice of a pumpkin.

"Let’s Explore Trees" (Nov.-Dec.)

The Johnson Farm is a "tree farm"! Over 7,000 Christmas trees are grown here along with the hundreds of acres of redwood forest that surround the farm.  Many forest animals and birds have made their home here and are often seen by farm visitors. Your students will learn the importance and benefit of trees in our everyday lives.

The "Let’s Explore Trees" tour is geared to K-2nd graders and is offered in November and December. This is a one-hour tour that includes a hayride, a time to feed the farm animals, a lesson on types of trees, their care and benefits and a tree ornament for each child to take home.

"Spring Planting" (May-June)

It’s spring planting time at the farm! Farm visitors are put to "work" helping plow the fields and plant the crops. School children will learn the life cycles of plants, dig in newly plowed soil and help plant the corn patch. Kids will get their hands dirty and get to tell their family that they planted "Farmer Rob’s" corn. What a special treat it is for them if their class comes the next Fall to see how tall the corn grew.

The "Spring Planting" tour is geared to K-2nd graders and is offered May through July. This is a one-hour tour that includes a hayride, a time to feed the farm animals, a lesson on planting crops and a sunflower seedling for each child to take home.
